Youth Chorus Divisions

Entrance to the Youth Chorus is by audition, and is open to girls in grades 2 through 11 and boys (with unchanged voices) in grades 2 through 8. Boys ages 15-21 may audition for our new Young Men's Division. Auditions are scheduled throughout the year. We advise all prospective choristers and their parents to read our membership information before arranging for an audition.

A student's acceptance and division assignment are based on his or her age, vocal ability, and musical experience. A love of singing and enthusiasm for music are the most important requirements. All chorus members are reevaluated annually to assess their progress and determine their readiness for promotion to more advanced chorus divisions.

Audition Procedures

BYCA's Artistic Director personally conducts each audition in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. The student will perform simple pitch-matching exercises, sing scales, and sing the familiar song "Happy Birthday."

To schedule an audition, please select from the audition dates below and complete the Audition Inquiry Form, or contact the Chorus Manager at 718-243-9447, ext 231. Once your form is received, we will either confirm your audition date and time or contact you for additional information.

Announcing Auditions for NEW Young Men's Division!!

BYCA's Young Men's Division will be open to Tenor and Bass voices between the ages of 15-21. This Division will be featured on BYCA self-produced concerts and will also perform in select outside engagements. Rehearsals for the Young Men's division will begin Monday, March 3 at 5:30 pm.
