About Brooklyn Youth Chorus

Named WQXR’s 2016-17 Artists-in-Residence and celebrating its 25th anniversary, BROOKLYN YOUTH CHORUS is a collective of young singers and vocal ensembles re-envisioning choral music performance through artistic innovation, collaboration, and their distinctively beautiful sound. With an incredibly versatile range and unique repertoire, Brooklyn Youth Chorus combines intensive vocal training and music study with exceptional performances. Collaborators include the New York Philharmonic, Thom Yorke, Barbra Streisand, and Kronos Quartet.  Our students learn the value of hard work and self-discipline, and develop the ability to express themselves as individuals and members of a peer group. The Chorus encompasses over 650 students in its core after-school and public school outreach programs. Classes take place at our Cobble Hill headquarters and locations in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Sunset Park, East Flatbush, and Red Hook, Brooklyn. 40% of students receive financial aid through our growing scholarship program, which enables hundreds of children to discover and develop their talent, sense of self, and true potential.
