Conductor
Kayla is a singer, songwriter, and educator based in Brooklyn. She began singing at four years old and developed a passion for music that she strives to foster within her students.
Through her studies at the University of Miami (B.M. 2017) and the New England Conservatory of Music (M.M. 2019), Kayla has developed a wide breadth of knowledge that allows her to provide incisive guidance to students looking to find their unique voice. All the while, her hands on, play-based approach keep classes fun, fast-paced, and energetic.
Kayla has worked as an early childhood music educator for five years. Her experience includes teaching Mommy and Me enrichment programs, implementing the Piano Friends summer camp curriculum at Brooklyn Conservatory for children four to seven, instructing BKCM’s Sing and Play classes for children ages six months to three years old, and teaching private voice and instrument instruction to students of all ages.
Kayla believes that everybody deserves the opportunity to fall in love with music and access to high level instruction. She has taught classes and led workshops in homeless shelters, Jewish community centers, community colleges, and correctional facilities.
As a performer, Kayla has appeared at established venues around the country such as the Arsht Center, Bowery Electric, The Knitting Factory, FLOYD Miami, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the years, Kayla has had the privilege of working and performing with renowned musicians including Jason Moran, Cyrille Aimée, Becca Stevens, and Kenny Rogers. While her background is in jazz performance, Kayla enjoys performing and writing in all genres. Her R&B and Pop-focused project, Adelide, has steadily grown into her primary artistic outlet.
